I have a 2004 Nissan Titan with a towing package. It came with a electric brake jumper harness that I just have to plug in under the dash and then wire an aftermarket brake controller to it. Well, I plugged the harness in which consists of five wires (red/green - veh stop lamp switch to trailer brake controller; black - brake controller ground; brown/white - trailer brake controller switched output; red/blue - trailer brake controller illumination; red - fused trailer brake controller battery feed, B+). I purchased a "Draw-Tite" Activator II brake controller and it only has four wires ( white, blue, red and black). I always assumed that black was the ground and red would be positive, but according to the brake controller instructions the black wire is positive. Of course the instructions say if you have a wiring harness refer to your vehicles manual. You refer to that manual and it says refer to the brake controllers instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That would still leave the black (ground) for the jumper harness not connected to anything. Do most elec brake controllers only have four wires or are they supposed to have five? Thanks for the help. ....

I edited my earlier post to include the relationships as you listed them. The 5th harness wire apparently carries 12v to for backlighting or some feature that the controller doesn't have

You may already know this, but it's probably a good idea to confirm the presence of 12v on that unused lead. If there's voltage, you want to tape off the cut end so it doesn't short out somewhere under the dash.

Glad you got your controller hooked up successfully. I was just going to mention that nowadays a lot of the controller manufacturers sell premade connectors for the specific truck models. I sprung for it with our last new truck and it made the installation simple, no guesswork, just snap together. Good luck choosing a tractor. ....
